Hyderabad: In a special drive against bike racing on Necklace road the Central Zone police arrested seven people and booked 80 other motorists for various offences under the Motor Vehicle Act.

The drive was conducted following reports from morning walkers on Tank Bund and Necklace Road. Very often bikers are found terrorizing morning walkers with their stunts and rash driving.

All senior officials in the zone including ACPs, inspectors and about 70 police personnel took part in the drive which started at around 5:30 am.

Inspector A. Ganga Reddy said that around 80 people were held for various violations and booked under the Motor Vehicles Act. They were later released. About seven motorists were arrested for racing and performing stunts on Necklace Road. They were booked for rash driving and their vehicles were seized.
