Andhra Pradesh will get Rs 600 crore more for Cyclone Hudhud from Centre
PM Modi had announced that AP would get Rs 1,000 crore relief
Hyderabad: Despite the Central government team’s valuation of the damage caused by Cyclone hudhud being Rs 680 crore, Andhra Pradesh will get the Rs 1,000 crore from the Centre.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced that AP would get Rs 1,000 crore relief when he visited Visakhapatnam after Cyclone Hudhud hit four districts of the state.
The Centre has already released Rs 400 crore, and the remaining Rs 600 crore will be given in due course.
“AP would have got more if the Central team’s assessment had been higher than Rs 1,000 crore. In case the assessment is less than Rs 1,000 crore, then too AP will get Rs 1,000 crore and nothing less than that,” a senior official in the Chief Minister’s Office said.
AP officials will meet Union officials on Monday to talk about the Rs 1,000 crore pledged by the Centre.
Earlier, the state government had written to the Centre to release Rs 9,857 crore as the first part of the total Rs 21,908 crore loss estimated by the AP government.
The Andhra Pradesh government has also sought sought Rs 7,500 crore financial assistance from the World Bank and Asian Development Bank for the reconstruction of Hudhud cyclone-hit districts.
