Thiruvananthapuram: The crucial UDF meeting on Monday is likely to take up the liquor policy and discuss whether it has to be tweaked.

The major focus will be on KC (M) chairman and finance minister K. M. Mani, against whom the Vigilance has registered a case in connection with the  bargate scam,  and how to counter the Opposition attack in the coming days.

Though the UDF leaders may rally behind Mr Mani, 81, it has put the finance minister in a quandary embarrassing  the front.

The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau filed an FIR in a special court here on Thursday  after the preliminary inquiry on the allegation of a bar owner that Mr Mani had taken a bribe of Rs 1 crore for reopening the bars.

The KC (M) is upset that it did not get the Congress support to avoid the case. Another issue is the proposal for action against KC (B) MLA K. B. Ganesh Kumar who had raised corruption charges against  the PWD minister’s office. Though the  Muslim League may keep mum,  the Congress may raise the issue, it is learnt.
