Aadhaar seeding on full swing
In AP, of 69.54 lakh revenue deeds, nearly 74 per cent have been seeded with Aadhaar so far
Hyderabad: Core database construction in Andhra Pradesh with Aadhaar seeding of revenue land documents, property tax and vehicle registration data has picked up across the state.
While seeding will help prevent fake land claims, stop evasion of property tax registration and prevent vehicle thefts, it has triggered fear among the people that all incentives and subsidies will be stopped in case of any tax default.
Aadhaar seeding for driving licence and vehicle registration is being done at all petrol bunks in the state. The road transport authority officials are collecting photocopies of Aadhaar cards from vehicle owners.
In AP, of 69.54 lakh revenue deeds, nearly 74 per cent have been seeded with Aadhaar so far. Seeding of seven major departmental databases is going on in full swing and is likely to be completed soon.
As part of building a core database, the state government has created a state resident data hub in association with Unique Identification Authority of India that built Aadhaar database.
Almost 4.5 crore families of the 5.5 crore population possess white ration cards in the state which are grossly misused.
S. Srinivasa Rao, a resident of Guntur said, “It’s good in one sense that they are seeding everything to Aadhaar.
But official machinery may use them to harass people in case of simple issues like delay in payment of property tax.”
