Women’s body in trouble before birth
Unaware of the Act, the officials framed the rules
Hyderabad: The Women’s Empowerment Corporation proposed by the Andhra Pradesh government faces hurdles even before its installation.
In an attempt to bring all women related departments under Women’s Empowerment Corporation, the officials framed rules to merge all the assets, liabilities and staff, including that of the Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty.
But, during his earlier regime, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu had brought out an Act about non-transfer of employees of closed Corporations.
Unaware of the Act, the officials framed the rules. The finance department has opposed saying that if SERP is to be merged with the Corporation, the existing Act has to be amended.
However, the Cabinet on Wednesday will approve setting up of the Women’s Corporation.
