Delhi High Court orders OnePlus to stop sales in India
Micromax filed a case against OnePlus for infringement of its exclusive rights
After the Xiaomi-Ericsson patent infringement case, Gurgaon based tech company Micromax, has filed an injunction against OnePlus in Delhi High Court. According to reports online, Micromax filed the case in order to protect its exclusive licensing deal with Cynogen in India.
Micromax, which is set to launch its new CynogenMod based smartphone under the Yu brand name on December 18, protested that by launching the OnePlus One smartphone the company has infringed its exclusive rights.
More so, on December 7, Cynogen confirmed its exclusive contract with Micromax on its blog saying, “We are committed to our exclusive partnership in India with Micromax, which will be launching its first Cyanogen OS device under their new YU brand.”
The court has ordered OnePlus to stop the selling, advertising or shipping of its products in India. However, the smartphone manufacturer has been allowed to clear its existing inventories of OnePlus One stocked on online retail website, Amazon.
