Oil firms clip SpiceJet wings, refused to give fuel on extended credit

New Delhi: Almost all SpiceJet flights remained on the ground for about 10 hours till 3.30 pm on Wednesday after state-owned oil firms refused to give fuel on extended credit.
SpiceJet made cash payments to oil companies after which the aircraft were fuelled. The airline operated 75 of its scheduled 230 flights on Wednesday. Government sources said that on Tuesday, SpiceJet operated just 35 flights.
The fresh cancellations inconvenienced thousands of passengers across the country. In Delhi, passengers staged a demonstration.
