The creme de la creme of Bollywood attended the Big Star Entertainment Awards that were held in Mumbai on Thursday night, with actresses trying to outdo each other on the red carpet of the award ceremony.

From Amitabh Bachchan and Salman Khan to Priyanka Chopra, Sonakshi Sinha and Karan Johar, the movers and shakers of the industry made it a point to be seen at the festival.

One person who was conspicuous by his absence (apart from the awards-shunning Aamir Khan) was the man who has been sitting at the peak of superstardom Shah Rukh Khan.

If his absence wasn’t enough, the loudest buzz at the awards night was that SRK, known for his thorough professional ethics, pulled out at the last minute.

A source in the know of what transpired at the event attests, “Shah Rukh was supposed to attend the event but cancelled last minute, saying some other urgent work had come up.

The organisers were hoping that he would make an appearance at least towards the end of the show considering he had initially said he’d attend, but that wasn’t meant to be.”

However, sources close to the actor have a different version to the story. They maintain that that actor had in fact never committed to attending the event in the first place.

A friend of the actor says, “Shah Rukh had never committed to attending the awards night. He was busy meeting Stanford students and then attending his daughter Suhana’s play.

There was no way he would miss her performance, and to top that his busy schedule didn’t leave him with any time for the awards. People have been insinuating that he skipped the awards but he had never planned on attending the event.”
