Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s roving eye for land for mega projects has landed on Erragadda in Hyderabad.

If Mr Rao has his way, the 65-acre land belonging to the Nizamera TB and Chest Hospital and the 45 acres belonging to the famed ‘Mental Hospital’ — the Institute of Mental Health —at Erragadda could be converted into the Telangana parade ground.

Sources said the Chief Minister during his recent interaction with political parties mentioned that the two hospitals could be shifted to the TB Sanatorium at Vikarabad, 70 km from Hyderabad, and the land could be utilised for the parade ground.

“The CM suggested why not shift TB Hospital and the Mental Hospital to Vikarabad and utilise the land for parade ground for TS. I don’t know why since we have the Parade Ground in Secunderabad which is under the control of the defence authorities,” said a legislator.

Mr Rao also created a stir announcing the shift of the Chanchalguda Central Jail.
