Fast undertaken by NCP leader ends at district hospital
The machine was lying idle for the past two years
Kottayam: The fast undertaken by Nationalist Congress Party leader P.K. Anandakuttan for the last one week demanding improvement in the facilities at the Kottayam district hospital was withdrawn on Saturday.
Mr Anandakuttan ended his fast after Transport Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan came to the hospital and assured him to take up his demands. Earlier, the minister held discussions with NCP national secretary Jimmy George on Saturday morning.
The demands raised by Mr Anandakuttan include making available the CT scan machine to the common people. The machine was lying idle for the past two years.
“Right now scanning is being done outside the hospital. The minister assured me that the practice of sending the patients to the private institutions will be ended,” Mr Anandakuttan told Deccan Chronicle.
