Why Sania, Sonakshi couldn’t catch up
Sonakshi Sinha just didn’t have the time
Sonakshi Sinha has been to Hyderabad many times to shoot and promote her films. But she’s never gone sightseeing or had a chance to catch up with her college friend or hang out with Sania Mirza. Her recent outing to the city to promote Tevar was no different.
As we sat down for an interview with her at a city hotel on Monday, after two hours of press interactions, a very hungry Sonakshi said: “Sania just messaged me (looking at her phone) ‘let’s go out, you’ve never seen the city’. But I don’t have time.”
The usual rumours
Sonakshi and her Tevar co-star Arjun Kapoor’s chemistry, both on and off screen, has been the talking point for a while now. At the meet, the two exchanged a smile as Arjun, while explaining the plot of the film, said by mistake, “Sonakshi se, I mean Sonakshi ke character se pyaar ho jaata hai.”
A little later, director Amit Sharma adds, “I didn’t have to work on Radhika and Pintoo’s chemistry (characters played Sonakshi and Arjun)”.
But the actress just had this to say: “Arjun and I have known each other for too long to pay any attention to these rumours. We were in the same school; he was a senior.”
Holiday plans
Since Tevar is still two weeks away from release, will she have time off for Christmas and New Year celebrations? “I just came to know that December 31 is my day off, so I’ll plan something. But dad (Shatrughan) usually likes the family to be together on the first day of the year.
For Christmas, my mum (Poonam) is always excited. She likes to decorate a cosy corner at home,” says Sonakshi, who likes to set out for Goa or Dubai if she gets a day or two off.
Recounting her most vivid Christmas memory she adds, “I must have been seven or eight. My tooth had fallen off. So mum told me, ‘put that in the stocking, write to Santa and your tooth will grow back.’ Of course, it didn’t happen. My mum loved playing Santa until I grew up and realised he’s not for real.”
