18 year old girl sexually abused by mom’s paramour
The victim has moved the High Court demanding Rs 10 lakh as compensation from the CWC
KOCHI: An 18 year old girl, who was “unwillingly” sent along with her mother from an Aluva-based orphanage six years back following a direction from the district Child Welfare Committee, has alleged that her mother’s paramour had sexually harassed her.
The victim has moved the High Court demanding Rs 10 lakh as compensation from the CWC for her “ordeal”.
Durgadevi was brought to the Janaseva Sisubhavan by her mother Lakshmi, a Tamil Nadu native, on February 5, 2001, when she was only five years old.
The mother had then cited that she had no means to look after her child. However, she returned after seven years and demanded that her child be sent along with her but the orphanage authorities initially declined.
However, she lodged a complaint with the district CWC which ordered that the child be sent along with her mother. “We had no choice but to send the girl along with her mother.
And thereafter we had no information about the duo till about a month ago,” said Chairman Jose Maveli.
Meanwhile, Durga was working with the Dreams Tailoring shop in Vadutala Boat Jetty road since August 2014.
The owner found her in a depressed state and after prolonged persuasion, she revealed her ordeal. The owner then informed the Janaseva sisubhavan authorities who rescued her.
