Centre does not support conversion or re-conversion: Venkaiah Naidu
Neither Centre nor BJP involved in conversion, says Venkaiah
New Delhi: The Opposition on Monday brought the Rajya Sabha to a standstill yet again on conversion issue, demanding a statement from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Rejecting the demand, parliamentary affairs minister M. Venkaiah Naidu said the government does not support conversion or re-conversion and if any individuals are violating the law, states are empowered to take action.
“Government has no role in conversions or re-conversions. The BJP has nothing to do with the individuals who are doing it. If anybody violates the law, the law should take its course,” Mr Naidu said.

Congress leader, Mallikarjun Kharge Mr said that “Bhasmasur” would obliterate people who are arrogant; to which Mr Naidu responded, “Bhasmasur will not come on wise people. We are wise people.”
Bhasmasur, a mythical demon, had the power to burn anyone into ashes.
During the protest, CPM MP from Kerala A. Sampath felt unease and was rushed to a dispensary in Parliament premises. Mr Sampath, was dia-gnosed cough and exertion problem and was discharged soon after.
