YSRC legislator Roja called ‘Lady Villain’
YSRC MLA breaks down in Assembly
Hyderabad: Actor-YSRC legislator S. Roja wept in the Assembly on Monday after senior Telugu Desam MLA Gorantla Buchhaiah Chowdary called her a “lady villain”. Her party colleague Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy and Mr Chowdary at one stage nearly came to blows.
Mr Chowdary was speaking on waiver of farm loans and took off on Ms Roja, saying, “She has acted as a heroine in films, but in the Assembly she is acting like a lady villain.”
Ms Roja, accompanied by YSRC legislators, rushed to the Speaker’s podium and demanded that Dr Kodela Siva Prasada give her a chance to speak. She broke down, as she pressed her demand for time to speak. The Speaker told the MLAs to go back to their seats, and adjourned the House when they did not heed.
After the Speaker left the House, Ms Roja, Mr Bhaskar Reddy and others rushed to Mr Chowdary’s seat where there was an exchange of words.
Later, Ms Roja met the YSRC chief in his chambers in the Assembly and complained against Mr Chowdary. When the session resumed YSRC MLAs demanded an apology. The Speaker said he would go through the records and decide.
