Hyderabad: The police busted a sex racket after raiding a brothel at Sanathnagar on Tuesday. A police constable and two women racketeers were arrested while a woman sex worker was rescued.

Following a tip off, a police team raided an apartment in a residential area and found a thriving prostitution racket. Rama Rao, a 51 year old police constable, was held along with two organisers Divya, 40, and 33 year- old Anuradha Laxmi.

According to Sanathnagar SI B. Saidulu, the cop came into contact with the racketeers recently, who invited him to their place. It was while he was at their apartment that he was arrested.

Mr Rao was questioned and he confessed. A 33 year old sex worker was rescued. The victim, a native of West Godavari district in AP, had come to the city about four years back. She was trapped by the racketeers, who forced her into the flesh trade.

A case under relevant sections of the Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act was registered and is being investigated. Sources said the accused were produced before the court and sent to judicial remand while the victim was sent to a rescue home.

Rao, a resident of Yousufguda, is a 7th Battalion head constable and currently posted as a guard at the Chief Office at Yousufguda.
