Psychological test for ‘raped’ girl
Medical reports indicate no use of force
Chennai: Preliminary medical report on the college girl, who alleged that a policeman had raped her off ECR on Monday evening when she was returning from the beach with her boyfriend, indicates that no force was used on her.“There were no external injuries on her body and private parts to suggest force,” police sources said, adding that a psychology test will be conducted on the girl on Thursday.
Though the police team is yet to get a written report from the doctors who examined the girl, a senior official claimed that as per oral intimation from the doctors, there was no sign of recent sexual activity on her body.Meanwhile, an officer familiar with the investigation said at least two persons, one man, part of a Home Guard team, and a policeman working in a neighbouring district but staying in Akkarai, are being questioned in connection with the case.
The police are still trying to establish there was a sexual assault. “We are yet to come to a conclusion. If there was no sexual assault, why should she lodge a complaint against a stranger? May be the psychology test will give us more insight. We are still in the process of scientifically finding out whether rape was committed or not before proceeding further with the case,” a senior police official observed.
On Monday evening, the girl, studying in a private engineering college, and her boyfriend who spent time on the beach off ECR was intercepted by a man on a bike, wearing khaki pants and white shirt, on Sunrise avenue - ECR junction. He claimed to be a cop from Semmanchery police station but took the girl to a house where he raped her, as per the girl’s complaint. The police have been questioning a number of men in their early 30s in the locality since Tuesday morning to find if anybody matched the descriptions given by by the girl.
