Army lifts bar on civilian traffic at night for six months in Hyderabad

Army authorities had enforced restrictions since October to regulate civilian traffic

The Army authorities had decided to impose a complete ban on civilian traffic from January 1, but the decision was withdrawn later.

Hyderabad: The night restrictions (from 10 pm to 7 am) enforced on civilian traffic by Army authorities on using AOC roads has been lifted for a period of six months.

Malkajgiri MP Ch. Malla Reddy said, “Over the next six months there won’t be any night restrictions on civilian traffic in the area. Defence minister Manohar Parrikar has assured us that a committee will be formed to look into various aspects of the problem."

"We have requested Mr Parrikar to give us at least two years for the construction of alternative routes and he has assured that time will be given.” The Army authorities had enforced the restrictions since October to regulate civilian traffic over security concerns.
