Pakistan military court to fast track terror trials

The Premier said a comprehensive action plan has been prepared to root out terrorism

Islamabad: Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Thursday said that military courts, to be established for two years, will swiftly try terrorists and help eliminate the menace.

“A twenty-point action plan against terrorism includes establishment of special trial courts for swift disposal of terrorism cases. The courts, to be headed by military officers, would be for a period of two years,” Mr Sharif said.

Addressing the nation over radio and television, the Premier said a comprehensive action plan has been prepared to root out terrorism.

He said the necessary constitutional and legal amendments would be carried out to facilitate establishment of the courts.
