Woman donates house to goverment
House was donated to department of social welfare, to run training classes in tailoring
Vellore: Ms Dakshayayini (82), wife of Mr Balu, who was educated in a home in Tambaram, donated her house, worth Rs 50 lakh, to the department of social welfare, to run training classes in tailoring. Ms Dakshayayini decided to donate her house on the day the International Senior Citizens Day was celebrated at the collectorate.
The house, built over 2,854 sq ft in Timiri village, will serve as a training centre for free tailoring classes to be conducted by the department of social welfare, Vellore collector, Dr R. Nandagopal, said during his address at the event. He lauded the generous woman who had come forward to donate her house to provide a livelihood for underprivileged girls who could now learn tailoring in the building.
Indian Children Welfare Association's Thilagavathy Ramaiah, senior advocate Vijayaraghavalu,psychiatrist Suseela Suriya, Udavum Karangal Chandrasekar participated in the function. District social welfare officer S. Paheetha welcomed the gathering. PRO M. Vijayakumar and Saranalayam Karunai Illam Subash were felicitated on the occasion.
