Hyderabad: A man allegedly attempted suicide at the Chief Minister’s camp office at Panjagutta on Saturday. He was depressed as he was not allowed to meet the CM as he had no prior appointment. However, his attempt was foiled by cops.

The man, identified as E. Raju, 30, a contract employee at the IICT. SI P. Nagaiah said that Raju came to the camp office in the morning to submit a memorandum.

“He left but returned with kerosene and poured it on himself at the check point. Security personnel foiled his attempt before he could set himself on fire,” the SI said.

He was taken to the police station and was let off after counselling. As per the Supreme Court order, no case was booked against him, officials said. Sources said Raju is a TRS activist and is involved in party activities in his area.
