Raghubar Das sworn in as Jharkhand Chief Minister
Dense fog at Delhi keeps Modi, Amit Shah away from fete
Patna: Raghubar Das on Sunday created history by taking oath as the first non-tribal Chief Minister of Jharkhand. The BJP along with its ally All Jharkhand Student Union (AJSU) backed by a huge mandate is set to govern the state for a full term of five years.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and BJP national president Amit Shah however were unable to attend the oath-taking ceremony of Mr Das as their planes couldn’t take off due to the dense fog.
Mr Modi however congratulated the new Chief Minister over Twitter.
“I would like to congratulate Shri Raghubar Das on taking over as Jharkhand CM and convey my best wishes to him,” the PM tweeted.
Along with the new CM four more ministers also were administered oath of secrecy by Governor Syed Ahmed at Birsa Munda Stadium in Ranchi. Those who joined the Cabinet along with Mr Das were Chandra Prakash Singh, Louis Marandi, Neelkanth Singh Munda and Chandra Prakash Choudhary of AJSU.
The oath-taking ceremony was attended by central ministers Nitin Gadkari, Venkaiah Naidu, Ram Kripal Yadav along with Chief Ministers Raman Singh and Devendra Fadnavis.
The new Chief Minister’s job however won’t be an easy one as finds himself fettered by Mr Modi’s lofty promises made to the people during the campaigning for the elections.
Mr Das after the swearing-in ceremony made it clear that the officials are required to present a blueprint to change the state.
“Come with original ideas and ensure good governance. Laxity of any kind by anyone will not be tolerated,” he said adding that the people have pin-ned their hopes on the PM and the BJP for development.
