Steep hike in bus fares for Pongal festival in Andhra Pradesh

Visakhapatnam: Private bus operators have doubled bus fares on the Vizag-Hyderabad and Vijayawada-Guntur route in view of the Pongal rush. IT employees working in Hyderabad visit their native places to celebrate the festival. Unable to get  return train tickets, they are approaching private bus operators who are demanding nearly Rs 2,000 to Hyderabad for a normal fare of Rs 800.  

All tickets on Hyderabad-bound trains have been booked a month in advance, leaving the public with no option but to travel by private buses.
