Berhampur (Odisha): Unidentified miscreants on Monday killed Ganesh Panda, a Right to Information (RTI) activist, at Randha village in Odisha’s Ganjam district while he was out for a morning walk.

The deceased’s family  said the miscreants targeted the victim as he protested against substandard quality items being used for the construction of village roads.

“Three persons of our village, who are contractors, had targeted him as he raised his voice against low quality in road construction work. Ganesh had sought information from Rangeilunda block office under the RTI Act on the total allocation and expenditure for the works. We suspect those three miscreants have killed him,” Rabindra Panda, brother of the victim said.

Ganjam district’s additional superintendent of police Sashibhushan Satpathy, said that prima facie it appeared to be a case of murder.
