Bengaluru: CM Siddaramaiah on Monday announced a slew of security measures including bringing in the Public Safety Act, commissioning a separate intelligence cadre and installation of CCTVs at all vulnerable places in the wake of the blast in which a woman was killed and three others injured.

Speaking to reporters after chairing a high-level meeting on security at his home office Krishna here, Mr Siddaramaiah  asserted that the state police was investigating all possible angles including the possible role of SIMI activists, who had escaped from Madhya Pradesh sometime ago. “We have already sent special teams to Pune as well as Chennai to investigate possible terror links," he explained.

According to him the proposed Public Safety Act will be modelled on the one in Andhra Pradesh, which enables the government to ensure 100 per cent  installation of CCTV cameras, wherever more than 100 persons gather, which means, almost every commercial establishment will be a partner in strengthening the security apparatus.

The CM firmly stated that the investigation will be conducted by the state police in co-ordination with NIA and other Central agencies.

“The state government will be in touch with them constantly and will seek all assistance required, but the investigation will be done by our police,” he said. The CM also denied any intelligence failure.
