Hyderabad: The Telangana state government has decided to regularise illegal occupation of government lands in Hyderabad and other parts of the state.
This will be done free of cost for the poor, while others will be charged. It also decided to take over all open government plots and lands in city and state and sell them, wherever needed, through public auction in a bid to check encroachments.
Thousands of people, especially the poor living in pucca, semi-pucca huts and other constructions on government lands the state will benefit from the long pending regularisation scheme.
Only those in possession of plots or land before June 2, 2014, are eligible for the regularisation scheme. A government order with guidelines will be issued. Mr Rao has also asked officials to submit a report on the removal of encroachments on nalas in Hyderabad and other places.
The government decided to issue patta certificates in the name of women wherever possible. Regularisation will be done free of cost for BPL families who have constructed houses or sheds in an area below 125 square yards.
For registration of plots up to 250 square yards payment of 50 per cent of the registration value is required. Plots up to 500 square yards will have to pay 75 per cent of registration value and plots 500 square yards and above will pay 100 per cent of the registration value.
The government decided to provide 20 days time for regularisation after notification. The regularisation process should be completed in 90 days.Proof of residence like Aadhaar Card, Ration card, voter ID card and others are needed.
