Sajjad Lone wants BJP government in Jammu and Kashmir
'If that does not happen the other option is to hold fresh polls,' he said.
Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir regional People’s Conference party chief Sajjad Gani Lone said on Tuesday that Bharatiya Janata Party should be allowed to form the new government in the state with the support of Independents.
He also said that the BJP and others alone could give the state a stable and inclusive government. “If that does not happen the other option is to hold fresh polls,” he said.
“BJP plus is the only option if we want a stable and inclusive government. The other option is fresh polls. All other options are fragile and unstable,” Mr Lone said.
His assertion comes in the backdrop of reports that Peoples’ Democratic Party, which emerged as the single largest party after winning 28 in the 87-member J&K Assembly in just concluded elections, is holding high-level talks with the BJP on government formation and is also exploring possibility of entering into a ‘grand alliance’ with Congress and National Conference towards cobbling up a ‘secular’ coalition government.
Congress, with 12 MLAs, has offered unconditional support to PDP.
