Samsung edges past Apple in consumer satisfaction index for handsets

Washington: South Korean tech titan Samsung has edged past archrival Apple in the American Customer Satisfaction Index despite receiving a lukewarm response to its flagship Galaxy S5 handset.

Samsung, who came under increasing pressure in the wake of declining profits, received a satisfaction rating of 81 points out of a possible 100, two points ahead of archrival Apple, Fox News reported.

The data published this week by the American Customer Satisfaction Index saw Samsung taking precedence over Apple in terms of consumer satisfaction despite the latter introduced with great fanfare larger-screen iPhone 6 and 6 Plus smartphones, with 10 million units sold over their first weekend.
