Hyderabad: Mobile apps of political parties and that of individual politicians of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh have few takers. Only a negligible number of people have installed these apps.

Many of the apps launched by ministers, former ministers, MPs and MLAs from the Telugu Desam, YSR Congress, Congress and Telangana Rashtra Samiti are neither popular nor active.

For instance former minister Danam Nagendar’s app has only 5 to 10 installations. Others like TD MLA from Vijayawada Bonda Uma, TS irrigation minister T. Harish Rao, former MP Sai Pratap, Former MP Anjan Kumar Yadav were installed on 100 to 500 smartphones. Even apps of top leaders like TS Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, have only 1,000 to 5,000 installations. Some politicians like former home minister P. Sabita Indra Reddy’s son Ms P. Karthik Reddy gave an option of uploading public issues through the app, but it is not working anymore.

Interestingly, many of the leaders are not even aware there is a mobile app in their name. An app was launched for TRS Lok Sabha Floor Leader Boinapally Vinod Kumar on April 9, 2014. Mr Vinod Kumar told this newspaper, “I am not aware that an app exists on my name. Maybe the company did it for publicity. It was launched a week before elections. I will check it out,”

The mobile app of Mr Jitta Balakrishna Reddy seems to have been ignored after elections.

Many of the leaders haven’t submitted the expenses for developing the app with the Election Commission of India.

YSRC Kakinada leader Mr Chalamalasetty Sunil, Congress leader Bandari Lakshma Reddy, TD leader Patel Ramesh Reddy, former Minister Balineni Srinivas Reddy too failed to attract smart phone users.
