Sanjay credits KJo for Tevar
First-time producer reveals that his friends in industry have shown immense faith in him
Sanjay Kapoor, who has turned producer with Tevar, gives the credit for nephew Arjun Kapoor’s star status to Karan Johar. He feels that the success of Johar’s 2 States gave Arjun the confidence to go ahead with Tevar.
“I’ve been in the business for too long and I understand the impact of a hit or a flop film on an actor’s future films. It was Karan who assured me that Arjun has the potential to pull a film on his shoulders,” he says.
The first-time producer reveals that his friends in the industry have shown immense faith in him. “Karan and a lot of my friends have asked me to work on a film that has Arjun and Sonam (Kapoor) in lead roles. Since they cannot be paired opposite each other, I’m looking for a script that justifies their presence in the same frame on screen,” says Sanjay.
Working with family is not a rule or a compulsion that this Kapoor family abides by. “Since Tevar is my first film, it was the trust factor that brought us together.
There is no compulsion that we have to work with each other all the time,” Sanjay says. He reveals that he has been working on his second film as a producer. “I’m in the middle of finalising the details but that’ll happen only after the release of Tevar.
I want to work with Sonam. Hopefully, I’ll succeed in rustling up a good script,” says Sanjay who doesn’t rule out the possibility of turning director in future.
