New Delhi: Disapproving the age-old habit in the government to spend allocated funds at the fag end of financial year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday directed members of his council of ministers to evenly utilise funds provided throughout the year.
The Prime Minister, during a meeting of his council of minister, also suggested getting “out of the box” ideas from the common man through electronic means including web portals of various ministries so that they can be incorporated in the Union Budget.
The finance minister has already begun the exercise to finalise Budget for the year 2015-16, as the budget session is scheduled for February this year. Addressing Cabinet ministers and ministers of states at his official residence, Mr Modi made a presentation on e-books being prepared by various ministries and said transparency in governance should be achieved through internet.
The Prime Minister also asked the ministers to put the seven northeastern states as well as Sikkim on their map, and asked them to spend “reasonable” duration of time in these states, minister of state for skill development Pratap Rudy told reporters after the meeting. The PMO’s officials made a presentation on e-books and web portals on which various ministries have already started working.
