Hyderabad: The Hyderabad bench of the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) on Monday stayed the decision of the Centre in allotting Anjani Kumar, IPS, and additional commissioner of Hyderabad city to Andhra Pradesh cadre.

While hearing the plea of the official, Ms Ranjana Chowdary, (member, admin) of the tribunal directed the authorities to let him continue in Telangana till the next date of hearing. Anjani Kumar moved the tribunal against his allotment to AP by the Centre in the ongoing division of bureaucrats belonging to All India Services among the states of AP and Telangana.

Jonnalagadda Sudheer, counsel for the petitioner contended that the authorities at the Centre committed grievous errors in processing the allotment based on the Pratyush Sinha committee. He alleged that the committee which has entrusted with the division of cadre has violated its own guidelines and there was no transparency in allotment. He said they made chairman of the committee as a party to the petition. He urged the tribunal to declare the allotment process as illegal. While granting stay, the tribunal issued notices to the Centre, AP and Telangana governments and also Pratyush Sinha directing them to file their counters by January 20. It asked the Centre’s counsel gets instructions from DoPT and the Union home ministry by January 20.
