Pakistan trying to divert attention: MoD
Srinagar/New Delhi: In view of the escalating situation at the border, with civilian areas repeatedly coming under attack, the authorities in J&K ordered that all government and private schools and colleges in the Hiranagar and Marheen zones will remain closed from January 6 till further orders.
Examinations and assessment papers scheduled for this period will be postponed till further notice.
On the ceasefire violations by Pakistan, defence minister Manohar Parrikar said, “As far as my interpretation about this full event is concerned, I feel that as they (Pakistan) got a rude shock in Peshawar, now they are trying to divert the attention...”
Meanwhile, in New Delhi, a senior officer of the armed forces said that the Pakistani collusion with China on military and strategic matters could lead to a possible scenario of a “two-front” conflict on India’s borders in the future and that the country would have to factor this in mind while facing threats ranging from terrorism to nuclear warfare.
The officer, however, qualified the comment, saying it was his personal view.
