Hyderabad: Two children were allegedly kidnapped by unidentified persons from Hydershakote on Monday night. Narsingi police found one of them, V. Anitha, hours later. The other child, her 18-month-old brother, is still missing.
Police said they had traced Anitha, 8, at Sun City at midnight. Anitha told the police that a woman had asked her for directions to a temple while she was standing near her house on Monday evening.
She persuaded Anitha and Arun to get into an autorickshaw and drove away. However, Narsingi police said there were contradictions in the girl’s statement. “They were playing near the house at 6.30 pm.
Later their parents could not find them anywhere near the house and approached us at 10 pm. We could trace the girl about 1.5 km from their house,” said Narsingi inspector P. Ramchander Rao.
“She told us that a woman had asked her for directions to a Hanuman temple nearby. While she was pointing to the route, the woman asked her to get into an autorickshaw and go with her. Anitha was dropped at Sun City, and her younger brother was taken away.
However, she is giving contradictory information about places and the time,” said a police official. The children’s father V. Venkatesh, a worker, lodged a police complaint following which a missing case was registered. Police has formed special teams to trace the baby.
