AP plans zero-based budget for 2015-16 sans new tax: Minister
Minister insisted that govt will implement all promises it had made ahead of elections
Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Government is planning a zero-based budget for 2015-16 and also not to impose new tax, state Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu announced on Wednesday.
"The government is contemplating a zero-based budget and also not to impose any new tax so as to save people from any tax burden. The next budget would be tax free," the minister said.
He was addressing a pre-budget conference of secretaries and district collectors under Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
Ramakrishnudu insisted that government will implement all promises it had made ahead of elections though he conceded that fiscal condition of the state is not good.
He also announced setting up of a Financial Advisory Board and directed officials to maintain a fiscal discipline.
In zero-based budgeting, all expenses must be justified for each new period.
