Rich tributes paid to saint composer Thyagaraja
The Carnatic music concerts will go on till January 10 at Tiruvaiyaru
Thanjavur: Justice V. Ramasubramanian paid rich tributes to Saint Thyagaraja and his contribution in field of Carnatic music. Inagurating the five-day, 168th aradhana celebrations of Saint Thyagaraja at his samadhi on the banks of the river Cauvery at Tiruvaiyaru, near here, on Tuesday, Justice Ramasubramanian also appreciated the authorities of the Sri Thiyagabrahma Mahotsava Sabha, Tiruvaiyaru, for conducting well such a rare event.
Among others, including president of Sri Thiyagabrahma Mahotsava Sabha, Mr G.R. Moopanar, former Union minister and chairman of the endowment of the sabha, Mr. G.K. Vasan, and Thanjavur collector, Dr N. Subbaiyan, participated in the colourful event.
Later, there was musical propitiation by noted Carnatic singers and instrumentalists for the saint-composer, to mark the occasion of the beginning of the aradhana. The Carnatic concerts will go on till January 10 at Tiruvaiyaru. On January 10, the Pushya Bahula Panchami day, musicians and instrumentalists will render the Thyagaraja’s Pancharatna kritis.
