WhatsApp to introduce ‘Call via Skype’ feature soon
The new feature is expected to appear on the 4.5.5 version of WhatsApp
WhatsApp has crossed over 700 million users since its launch. However, recent reports state that WhatsApp is working on its new feature known as ‘Call via Skype’, that is expected to arrive on your smartphone soon.
MakTechBlog traced down the codes of ‘Call via Skype’ on the iPhone version of WhatsApp. It has also been speculated that the upcoming one-click option on WhatsApp will allow you to convert your audio-calls into a video chat.

As reported earlier, a separate call log window will enable viewing the list of missed WhatsApp calls, ongoing calls and received calls via WhatsApp. The traces clearly reveal that the ‘Call via Skype’ feature may also allow users to mute your call and keep your call on hold. Media reports also state that the Driving mode on WhatsApp will pop up the status as 'do not disturb' mode on the call window.
There isn’t any official announcement about the upcoming feature from WhatsApp yet. However, media reports state that the voice-calling feature will be available on the 4.5.5 version of WhatsApp in the first quarter of 2015.
