Homophobic Uber driver kicks gay couple out of taxi in London
The driver has been suspended pending an investigation
London: A gay couple who had hired an Uber cab to travel towards Leicester Square in London were in for a rude shock when their homophobic driver kicked them out.
Jordon Sloan and Corey Watts were traveling to a friend’s place on New Year’s Day, when they hired the cab. The couple had traveled a short distance when the driver stopped the cab and asked them to get out after he saw them kissing in his rearview mirror. When asked why had the driver stopped the cab and asked them to leave, the driver replied saying, he wasn’t averse to picking up gays, but they didn’t resort to such behaviour, such as kissing in his cab.
Uber had taken payment for the distance traveled by the couple, however, after coming to know of the discriminatory incident, they refunded the amount.
An angry Corey Watts tweeted, “Of course everyone has an opinion on these things, mine is that I should be able to kiss my partner in public without it being an issue.”
A spokesperson from Uber said the driver has been suspended and an investigation has been launched into the incident.

We weren't drunk or rowdy. It was a kiss between my boyfriend and I that would not have caused an issue had we been male & female.

To clarify nobody was being inappropriate in the cab until the driver told us to get out. We kissed. Inappropriate? Fuck off with that.

I'll always protect my boyfriend and vice versa. Be it against homophobic people or gay people with the wrong views. We won't back down.
