My priorities have changed: Dia Mirza
Dia Mirza is in town for the first time after her marriage
Dia Mirza is in Hyderabad for the first time since her wedding in October and the actress adds laughing, that her husband Sahil Sangha has “ditched” her on her first trip home, after marriage.
“Sahil unfortunately couldn’t make it but everyone at home was very eager to meet him. Especially our caretaker, who has been with us for the last twenty years. He almost had garlands and sweets ready, only to be disappointed,” she says.
Dia mentions that she is in town only for a couple of days to spend time with her family. “My uncle who lives abroad has come to visit us... and also my cousins, some of whom I haven’t met in years. So my family insisted that I too come home now.
“Since its a very short trip, I wouldn’t be able to meet my friends here, but I am in touch with them on Facebook, so hopefully next time I am back, we could plan out something,” she says.
The actress-turned-producer, who is also a philanthropist, is associated with many social organisations. She says that it is one part of her life she can speak about the entire day.
Speaking about an upcoming initiative, she says, “I will be soon participating in the Mumbai Marathon as a part of Ronnie and Zarina Screwvala’s Swades foundation.
There, we hope to spread awareness about how if a sustainable lifestyle is accommodated in rural areas then people wouldn’t feel the need to migrate to cities, where life gets more difficult.”
Dia, admits that it has been some time since she was on-screen but she also adds that nothing “very special” has come her way to change her mind.
“Also, I find the role of a producer very empowering. My priorities have changed over the years so I wouldn’t be compelled to do another film just for the sake of it,” says Dia.
And would we see Hyderabad in any of her upcoming films?
“I was fortunate to pay Hyderabad a homage, through Bobby Jasoos, so early in my career as a producer. Sahil and I are going through some scripts at present, and will announce our new projects by the end of January,” she adds.
