Hyderabad: Suspecting his wife’s fidelity, a man allegedly attempted to kill her at their residence in Lenin Nagar of Meerpet. The accused stabbed his wife with a sharp weapon and hit her on the head with an iron rod. Later he tried to kill himself. Both were seriously injured and have been shifted to the hospital. The accused Yellaiah, 49, works as a scavenger at Reserve Bank of India near Lakdikapul. The victim, Renuka, 40, is a home maker. They have a son. According to the Meerpet police, Yellaiah suspected that Renuka was having an extramarital affair with one of his brothers. On Thursday morning, the couple had an argument. “Following a heated argument, an agitated Yellaiah picked up a sharp weapon and iron rod and attacked her. He stabbed her and hit Renuka hard on head with the iron rod. Both sustained injuries,” said C. Venkataiah, SI Meerpet. Cops booked a case for attempt to murder and have started an investigation.
