So far, Rs 2 crore has been allotted to old wards and Rs 3 crore to new wards
Bengaluru: The BBMP has called tenders for 2,550 works and issued work orders to 1,562 works through the single window system on Thursday.
Orders were given to 384 works in East Zone, 287 in West, 274 in South, 123 in Bommanahalli, 212 in Yelahanka, 126 in Mahadevapura, 113 in Dasarahalli and 43 in Rajarajeshwari Nagar.
Launching the drive Mayor N.Shantakumari urged the contractors to ensure quality. She said, “Single window system benefits the development of the city. Through this, we are able to complete various projects within the deadline.
So far, Rs 2 crore has been allotted to old wards and Rs 3 crore to new wards. However, contractors have come forward to take up only 60 per cent of the works. In future, we are certain more contractors will show interest in the remaining works.”
BBMP Commissioner M. Lakshminarayan, who was also present, said by adopting single window system, the works were bound to be completed within deadline. “Fifteen years ago, if a file had to be approved, one had to run from pillar-to-post.
The file had to cross many tables for one approval. Now, the system has changed. We should all make use of the single window system,” he added.
