Bus mishap: Officials served notices
The contractor and sub-contractor carrying out repair works on the road also served notices

Anantapur: Alleging negligence of district officials in connection with the RTC bus accident at Penukonda on Wednesday, the Legal Services Authorities have issued notices to the concerned departments to attend its office on January 24.
The district LSA secretary T. Subba Rao, and a team of advocates, visited the accident spot on Friday. It served notices to the road and buildings department, the police, the transport, revenue departments and the APSRTC. The contractor and sub contractor, who have taken up works on the road, were also served notices.
Notices were served to the superintendent of police, APSRTC regional manager, R&B superintendent engineer, deputy transport commissioner of Anantapur district after inspections.
District sessions judge and Anantapur district LSA chairman Venkateswara Rao said the officials of these departments had not ensured precautionary measures along the ghat road from Madakasira to Penukonda. Mr Rao pointed out that the APSRTC was regularly plying buses which were over crowded between Madakasira and Penukonda.
He said the police and other departments never initiated action against buses over crowded with passengers. Referring to the failure over coming up with an alternative road at the spot, the Mr Rao expressed ire that vehicles were still being permitted to ply on the same route. The Authority will submit a report to the High Court.
