Hyderabad: Students on Friday intensified their agitations against the Telangana government for its failure to pay fee reimbursement and scholarship arrears amounting to over Rs 1,000 crore.

Tension prevailed at the CM’s camp office in Begumpet and the Secretariat on Friday after students broke the tight security cordon and tried to enter the premises, raising slogans against Chief Minister  K. Chandrasekhar Rao and the Telangana government.

Students also laid siege to the residence of irrigation minister T Harish Rao’s residence in Siddipet. Tension mounted as students clashed with the police who had to resort to lathi charge to disperse them.

Despite security personnel rounding off the area, the students managed to evade them and reached near the main entrance of the camp office. However, the CM was not present in the camp office.

SFI state president M. Shobhan Nayak said, “We feel completely let down. Is this the Telangana for which the students fought?  Telangana students are on the streets as the colleges are not allowing them to attend classes or appear for exams due to fee arrears.”
