Visakhapatnam naval dockyard gets new chief

Rear Admiral AK Saxena will now be the new chief

Visakhapatnam: Rear Admiral S.R. Sarma, took over as the admiral superintendent, of Naval Dockyard, Visakhapatnam from Rear Admiral AK Saxena, during a formal ceremony at the Naval Dockyard on Friday. 
 
Rear Admiral Sarma was commissioned as an Electrical Officer into the Indian Navy in August 83 and holds a Masters degree in Computer Science and Engineering. 
 
The Flag Officer is an alumnus of the Naval War College. He has held various important appointments in the Indian Navy including Operational, Staff, Dockyard and Research and Development. His afloat appointments include frontline warships Mysore, Krishna, Rana and Vindhyagiri. 
 
The Admiral is a recipient of the Vishisht Seva Medal for his distinguished service. Prior to this appointment, the Flag Officer served as the Assistant Chief of Material (Information Technology & Systems) at Integrated Headquarters, Ministry of Defence (Navy) at New Delhi. 
 
Rear Admiral A.K. Saxena, who was at the helm of affairs at Naval Dockyard, Visakhapatnam for 15-months, is now proceeding to Mumbai to assume duties of the Chief Staff Officer (Technical) at Headquarters, Western Naval Command.
