Bhojpuri books for MBBS study
The Banaras Hindu University (BHU) has taken this initiative
Lucknow: For the first time, engineering and medical books and terminology will now be available in Bhojpuri, Maithili and Magahi languages, making it easier for the students from eastern UP and Bihar to understand the subjects.
The Banaras Hindu University (BHU) has taken this initiative and Professor Rajiv Sangla is constructing a website that offers texts for medical and engineering courses in these three languages. “We are also preparing electronic editions of Hindi newspapers in these languages,” Professor Sangla said.
According to him, BHU gets maximum number of students from eastern UP and Bihar and since these students speak Bhojpuri Maithili and Magahi, they have problems in understanding subjects.
“Medical and engineering books are either in English or in Hindi. Lectures are also in these two languages. Students, who are not too conversant with either English or Hindi, find it difficult to follow. We have a large number of students seeking clarifications that arise due to language differences. The website will offer explanations in Bhojpuri, Magahi and Maithili,” he explained.
