Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh: Second of the two constables accused of gangraping a 14-year-old girl inside a police station in Uttar Pradesh's Badaun was arrested on Sunday, police said.
Veer Pal Yadav was apprehended from satellite bus station in the city, Superintendent of Police Rajiv Malhotra said. He said Veer Pal was here to surrender in the court on Saturday.
Earlier, on January 6, the other accused, constable Avnish Yadav was held by the Special Task Force and local police when he was about to board a Delhi-bound train in Bareilly. He was later remanded to the judicial custody for 14 days.
Both the constables were dismissed after they were accused of raping the girl after abducting her at Musajhag Police Station on the New Year's eve.
Night duty in-charge of the police station Himanshu Shukla and head constable Udayveer Singh have also been suspended, while Sub-Inspector Sobharan Singh Yadav has been taken off duty, police said.
The medical examination of the girl has confirmed the rape.
A financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh was given to family members of the victim from the Chief Minister's Fund.
