Hindus should have 5 children, says BJP leader from West Bengal
‘If my Hindu mothers, sisters don't have 5 children, hardly any Hindus will be left in India’
Birbhum: A week after BJP MP Sakshi Maharaj asked Hindu women to have at least 4 children, another BJP leader from West Bengal, Shyamal Goswami said on Tuesday that Hindu women should have five children.
"I would like to tell all my Hindu mothers and sisters that if they don't have five children, in future there will be no balance in India. Don't misunderstand me. If my Hindu mothers and sisters don't have five children, hardly any Hindus will be left in India. To protect Hinduism and Sanatan Dharma it is necessary for all Hindus to give birth to 5 children," Goswami reportedly said in Birbhum.
Last week, Maharaj had made similar remarks at a religious gathering.
"A Hindu woman must have at least four children. Give one to the army, another to us religious leaders and teachers," said Maharaj.
And a day later, he said, "Raat gayi, baat gayi (As time passed, the matter also ended)."
BJP had on Monday issues a show-cause notice to Sakshi Maharaj. However, on Tuesday, he denied receiving any notice and hit out at the media, calling it BJP's "internal matter."
