Hyderabad: The Telangana Rashtra Samiti got a shot in the arm on Tuesday as party-backed candidates bagged four seats in the Secunderabad Cantonment Board elections while the Telugu Desam-BJP combine was routed with zero seats. A single Congress-backed candidate secured a seat from Ward No. 7.

On the other end, the TRS rebels, who were ditched by the party in the last moment and went ahead to support new candidates, came out victorious.

Though a non-political election, the SCB polls were being looked at as the pre-finals ahead of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation elections. Accordingly, all political parties had roped in their top leaders to campaign for the contestants.

Meanwhile, former Congress MP Sarve Satyanarayana and Telugu Desam MLA Saianna, who had fielded their children in the election to kick-start their political careers, came away disappointed.
