HyderabadThe TRS’ much-touted poll promise of KG to PG free education is far from seeing daylight in near future.

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao will hold a symposium later this month to discuss the best approach to the scheme with some academics  and experts. However, the scheme can be implemented earliest in the 2016-17 academic year.

Education minister G. Jagdish Reddy also met Mr Rao and discussed the implementation of the scheme. He also said that a final decision on Eamcet will be taken in two to three days.

In a release, Mr Reddy said opinion and suggestions regarding Eamcet will be sought from all stakeholders in the state. He also said a decision on the modalities of implementation of the KG to PG free education scheme will be taken in the symposium on January 27.

Senior officials said that the government wants to discuss the scheme threadbare. There is no haste in implementing the scheme in a half-hearted way. Promoting the culture of Telangana through curriculum will also be a part of the scheme.

“There are six to seven types of schools in each district like model schools, open schools, residential schools etc. We have to discuss in details how to materialse the scheme in these schools. So far it is in a very nascent stage,” said a senior official.
