No tiff with Tevar director
'Relationships aren’t ruined just because a film doesn’t work' - Boney Kapoor
While producer Boney Kapoor is candid enough to admit that his lavish masala film Tevar hasn’t had the success the team expected, he has pooh-poohed reports of a rift with its director Amit Sharma.
“These fall-out fables are meant to sensationalise a routine occurrence in the film industry. A film not doing so well is not a big deal. Amit worked hard on Tevar. But it under-performed,” says Boney, also dismissing the rumour that Amit has been sacked as the director of the upcoming film Daku Sultan.
“That was one of the projects we were discussing. Amit is part of our production organisation. He will direct films for me as long as he wants. Years ago I had given Satish Kaushik a break as a director in Prem. He then made Hamara Dil Aapke Paas Hai, Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja and Milenge Milenge for us. Roop Ki Rani... was a disaster. But we continued working together.
Relationships aren’t ruined just because a film doesn’t work,” Boney says, adding that he’s definitely doing another film with son Arjun Kapoor as well as Amit Sharma.
