Runway inspection work causes landing trouble for KLM flight at Delhi airport
AAI denied that flight had to abort landing at last minute due to runway scare
New Delhi: Inspection work at the runway at the Indira Gandhi International Airport on Sunday forced a KLM plane from Amsterdam to do a go-around when it was on a landing approach.
"Today at 0059 IST, KLM flight 871 from Amsterdam was given a go-around as the runway inspection was underway at the time of landing," an Airports Authority of India (AAI) spokesperson said in a statement tonight.
The AAI statement came following reports that the plane of the Netherlands national carrier was denied landing at the last minute by the air traffic control after they spotted a jeep on the runway.
The AAI denied that the flight had to abort landing at the last minute due to any runway scare.
The flight landed safely at 1.15 am IST, the AAI said.
